How Do You Play an Escape Room in Las Vegas?
The best way to win an escape room is to communicate constantly, search the room carefully, and keep every clue you find in one place. The teams that escape are almost always the ones that talk the most.
What Should You Do Before the Escape Room Starts?
Watch the intro video closely. Each room begins with a short video that explains your story and what you’re looking for in order to escape or win. Pay close attention, because the details in that video often point you toward your first puzzles.
What Should You Do When You First Walk Into an Escape Room?
Start searching and talking out loud right away. Find the places where you’ll enter a code, like locks, keypads, and boxes. Look for anything that seems odd or out of place.
Say everything out loud as you find it. “Look, when I move my hand over the candles, they light up.” “I found a hole.” “This lock needs four numbers.” “There’s a symbol on the wall.” If you find a hole, make sure everyone knows about it, because it may be exactly where something you find later belongs. When everyone knows what’s been found, your team can connect clues much faster.
Where Should You Put the Clues You Find in an Escape Room?
Put everything you find in one area, safely out of the way. That way you always know where to go back to, and nothing gets lost while you’re working on the next puzzle.
How Do You Know Which Puzzle to Start With in an Escape Room?
It depends on whether the game is linear or non-linear. In a linear game, there’s one specific puzzle to start with, and each solution leads to the next. Many games combine linear and non-linear puzzles, which means several can be worked on at once. Don’t stop at one puzzle. Keep looking around, and split up so different players can work on different challenges.
Are the Puzzles at Number One Escape Room Like Other Escape Rooms?
NO. At Number One Escape Room, our puzzles are incredibly unique and unlike anything you’ve played before. When something looks odd, ask yourself what you’re really supposed to do with it, and don’t be afraid to try the idea that seems a little strange. That’s often exactly how you’ll escape.
What Are the Typical Puzzles You’ll Find at Other Escape Rooms?
It still helps to know the kinds of puzzles most escape rooms use. Here are some of the most common ones:
- Black light clues: Hidden messages or numbers that only appear under UV light.
- Magnets: Objects that unlock or trigger something when a magnet is placed in the right spot.
- Mechanical puzzles: Levers, gears, pulleys, and moving parts that must be operated in the right way.
- Color matching: Colors that correspond to numbers, buttons, or positions.
- Combination locks: Number, letter, or word codes found somewhere in the room.
- Directional locks: Locks that open with a pattern of up, down, left, and right.
- Hidden compartments and secret passages: Drawers, panels, and doors that aren’t obvious at first.
- Ciphers and codes: Symbols or letters you translate using a decoder found in the room.
- Pattern and sequence puzzles: Repeating shapes, numbers, or images that reveal an order.
- Sound puzzles: Musical notes, tones, or audio clues.
- Jigsaw and assembly puzzles: Pieces you put together to reveal a picture or code.
- Counting puzzles: The number of objects in the room becomes part of a code.
- Sensors and triggers: Placing an item in the right spot opens a door or starts the next step.
What Should You Do When You’re Stuck in an Escape Room?
Ask for a hint. Hints are part of the game. If your team has been stuck on the same puzzle for several minutes, ask. A hint keeps the fun going and keeps you on track to escape.
Can You Take Photos and Videos in an Escape Room in Las Vegas?
Yes. At Number One Escape Room, you’re allowed to take photos and film Instagram posts and TikToks inside the escape room. Capture your team’s best moments, the crazy puzzles, and the big escape. Make sure you take some really good videos, post them, and tag Number One Escape Room.

Communication. Say everything out loud as you find it, like “I found a hole” or “the candles light up when I move my hand over them,” so your whole team can connect clues faster.
